# Use GPT 5.4 Mini and Nano on AI Gateway

Vercel's AI Gateway adds OpenAI's GPT-5.4 Mini and Nano, both aimed at coding and sub-agent workflows.

[Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>)'s AI Gateway now offers GPT-5.4 Mini and GPT-5.4 Nano from OpenAI, alongside [AI Gateway's model leaderboard](<https://vercel.com/ai-gateway/leaderboards>). Vercel says both models are state-of-the-art for their size class in coding and computer use, and are built for sub-agent workflows where several smaller models coordinate on parts of a larger task. Both support verbosity and reasoning level parameters, giving control over response detail and how much the model reasons before answering.

- **GPT-5.4 Mini** handles code generation, tool orchestration, and multi-step browser interactions more reliably than previous mini-tier models, Vercel says, making it a default for agentic tasks that balance capability and cost. Set model to "openai/gpt-5.4-mini" in the AI SDK to use it.

- **GPT-5.4 Nano** performs close to GPT-5.4 Mini in evaluations at a lower price, and suits high-volume cases like sub-agent workflows where cost scales with the number of parallel calls. Set model to "openai/gpt-5.4-nano" to use it.
