# Turborepo and Vercel Remote Cache now support OpenID Connect (OIDC)

By Steven Van · 2026-07-30

You can now exchange OIDC tokens from CI/CD workflows, including GitHub workflows, for short-lived Turborepo access tokens.

CI/CD workflows, including GitHub workflows, can now exchange [OIDC tokens](<https://vercel.com/changelog/turborepo-and-remote-cache-now-support-openid-connect-oidc>) for short-lived Turborepo access tokens to authenticate with [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>)'s Remote Cache, replacing long-lived Personal Access Tokens. The tokens are short-lived, scoped only to Remote Cache access, and tied to the team rather than an individual member.

Vercel recommends all customers migrate their CI/CD workflows from PATs to OIDC. To get started, add a Turborepo OIDC policy under Settings → Build and Deployment → OIDC Policies for CLI Access.
