# Trace any Vercel request from the CLI

By Steven Van · 2026-06-03

Vercel CLI's new \`vercel curl --trace\` and \`vercel traces get\` commands generate and fetch OpenTelemetry traces on all plans.

Vercel CLI can now generate a Session Trace for any request. The new **vercel curl --trace** command sends a request through [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>)'s curl wrapper and creates an OpenTelemetry trace for it, then prints the trace request ID. A companion **vercel traces get** command fetches the resulting trace data by that request ID.

The feature is available on all plans. It requires updating to the latest [Vercel CLI](<https://vercel.com/changelog/trace-any-vercel-request-from-the-cli>) and running vercel curl --trace against an endpoint to get started.
