Shopify is partnering with [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) to [rebuild Hydrogen](<https://vercel.com/blog/shopify-and-vercel-are-rebuilding-hydrogen-for-faster-storefronts>), its framework for headless storefronts, from the ground up.

- The new version is open source and runtime agnostic, so developers can build storefronts with Next.js, Nuxt, Svelte, or any framework, instead of being tied to one stack.

- Storefronts that previously needed custom glue code now come with type-safe API clients and cart state in a single import.

- Skills let agents extend a storefront with a single command.

- For retailers such as Paige, feature development has dropped from months to a week.
