# Self-driving infrastructure

By Steven Van · 2025-11-21

Vercel Agent now investigates production anomalies, reviews code pre-deploy, and can open pull requests from real usage data, with human approval still required.

Vercel is rolling out what it calls self-driving infrastructure: an approach where the platform manages production operations on its own rather than through manual configuration and alerting. The centrepiece is **Vercel Agent**, which continuously watches deployments and can investigate anomalies by running observability queries, reading logs, and analysing source code to find a root cause. It can also review code before it deploys, testing it in isolated sandboxes to catch bugs, security flaws, and performance regressions early.

Vercel gives two examples of what Agent looks for: a traffic surge caused by a marketing campaign (nothing wrong, just a spike), or a distributed credential-stuffing attack from a non-revenue region, where it can recommend tightening rate limits or turning on Bot Protection. Agent also closes what Vercel calls the production-to-code feedback loop: it analyses production data such as cache behaviour, performance bottlenecks, and real user metrics, and can generate pull requests based on that data to improve an app's stability, security, and performance.

For now, every recommendation from Agent still requires human approval. Vercel says more tasks will move to full autonomy over time, building on the [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) platform's existing framework-defined infrastructure, which provisions resources automatically from an application's framework patterns. Full details are in [the announcement](<https://vercel.com/blog/self-driving-infrastructure>).
