# Search any public GitHub repo with Grep

By Steven Van · 2025-07-14

Grep now searches any public GitHub repo by URL, not just the platform's 1M+ pre-indexed ones.

Grep's search used to cover only the platform's 1M+ pre-indexed repositories. [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) has removed that limit: any public GitHub repo can now be searched by visiting grep.app/\[owner\]/\[repo\], such as grep.app/vercel/ai, and typing a query like streamText. It supports full-text and regular expression search with no setup required. Read the [original announcement](<https://vercel.com/changelog/search-any-public-github-repo-with-grep>)
