# Scaffold your chat apps with create-chat-sdk

By Steven Van · 2026-06-23

The CLI sets up platform and state adapters, a webhook route and dependencies in one step, and runs non-interactively in CI or coding agents.

[Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>)'s Chat SDK can now be scaffolded with a single command. [create-chat-sdk](<https://chat-sdk.dev/docs/create-chat-sdk>) generates a complete Next.js project for a chat bot, including the chosen platform adapters, a state adapter, a webhook route, and a populated .env.example file, and installs the dependencies automatically.

The CLI prompts for platform adapters (for example Slack and Discord) and a state adapter (for example Redis), then wires up src/lib/bot.ts with onNewMention and onSubscribedMessage handlers and a pre-configured next.config.ts. Every prompt can be skipped with flags, so the same command runs non-interactively in CI or when a coding agent such as Cursor or Claude Code scaffolds the project itself.
