# Port 8080 is now available in Vercel Sandboxes

By Steven Van · 2026-05-29

Vercel Sandbox frees up port 8080 for ingress by moving its internal controller process to port 23456.

Port 8080 can now be opened and bound as an ingress domain in [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) Sandboxes. The port was previously reserved for the sandbox's own controller process, which has moved to port 23456 to free it up. Developers can now run a server on 8080, such as python3 -m http.server 8080, and reach it through sandbox.domain(8080), as shown in the [updated documentation](<https://vercel.com/changelog/port-8080-is-now-available-in-vercel-sandboxes>).
