# Particle-1 is now available on AI Gateway By Steven Van · 2026-10-28 Particle-1, post-trained on DeepSeek V4.1 Flash with a 1M-token context, is callable as particle/particle-1 and works in Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. Particle-1, a model from Particle AI, is now available on [Vercel]()'s AI Gateway, as [Vercel's coding agents guide]() describes. It is post-trained on DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and aimed at completing software engineering tasks with fewer tokens. ## What Particle-1 is for Particle describes the gains as shorter reasoning, fewer rounds of trial and repair, and more focused exploration. Vercel lists debugging, planning code changes, and breaking down multi-step engineering problems as use cases. The model has a 1M-token context window for working with code and extended task histories. ## Using it Set AI\_GATEWAY\_API\_KEY in your environment and use particle/particle-1 as the model name. The release note shows it called through the AI SDK with streamText, and lists fx and Chat Completions as other options. To use it in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents, install the latest Vercel CLI and run npx vercel ai-gateway setup. Then select particle/particle-1 in the agent. The CLI detects installed agents and shows a diff of planned changes before writing anything.
