By Steven Van · 2025-07-15

Version 1.0.0 of Vercel's MCP Adapter adds a withMcpAuth wrapper and one-click examples with Better Auth, Clerk, Descope, Stytch, and WorkOS.

Version **1.0.0** of the MCP Adapter used on [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) adds official support for the MCP Authorization spec, letting developers secure MCP servers with OAuth.

- Helper functions for OAuth-compliant authorization flows

- A new withMcpAuth wrapper for securing routes

- One-click deployable examples with auth providers Better Auth, Clerk, Descope, Stytch, and WorkOS

A protectedResourceHandler is also available to expose resource server metadata to compliant clients. Developers can get started by cloning the [Next.js MCP server template](<https://vercel.com/templates/ai/model-context-protocol-mcp-with-next-js>) and deploying it, or by exploring the starter integrations from the auth partners above.
