# New Vercel CLI login flow

By Steven Van · 2025-09-12

Vercel CLI login switches to OAuth 2.0 Device Flow, and old login methods stop working February 26, 2026, except SAML-based team login.

The vercel login command now uses OAuth 2.0 Device Flow, the industry-standard method, letting you sign in from any browser-capable device. [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) recommends checking the location, IP, and request time before approving a login.

Email-based login (vercel login your@email.com) and the --github, --gitlab, --bitbucket, --oob, and team flags are deprecated. Most of these stop working on **February 26, 2026**; the team method (SAML-based login) continues until **June 1, 2026**. Vercel had previously extended support for these methods to June 1, 2026, but is now moving most of that deadline earlier to prioritise security. Upgrade with npm i vercel@latest; see the [full announcement](<https://vercel.com/changelog/new-vercel-cli-login-flow>) for details.
