Microsoft's two image models are available through [Vercel]() AI Gateway, letting developers generate and edit images through the AI SDK or AI CLI with one API key and no provider account. ## Generate images and make targeted edits Both models support photorealistic imagery, text rendering, and targeted edits to products, portraits, and layouts, with output sizes up to 1536 × 1536. MAI-Image-2.6 can also update text, clean up artifacts such as motion blur, and preserve visual consistency across editing iterations. In the AI SDK, call generateImage with a text prompt to create an image. To edit an existing image, pass it as input alongside an instruction describing the change. The MAI-Image-2.6 playground also accepts up to five reference images. ## Choose quality or faster iteration Use microsoft/mai-image-2.6 for final assets when image quality matters more than speed. Use microsoft/mai-image-2.6-flash for faster generation at a lower cost, such as exploring prompts or generating variations.
