GPT-5.1 Instant and GPT-5.1 Thinking join Vercel's AI Gateway, usable via the AI SDK with no separate OpenAI account.

OpenAI's GPT-5.1 Instant and GPT-5.1 Thinking are now available through [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>)'s AI Gateway, with no separate OpenAI account required.

- GPT-5.1 Instant offers improved instruction following, adaptive reasoning, and warmer, more conversational responses.

- GPT-5.1 Thinking builds on GPT-5 Thinking with dynamic performance tuning that prioritizes speed for simple tasks and deeper reasoning for complex ones.

To use them with the AI SDK, set the model to openai/gpt-5.1-instant or openai/gpt-5.1-thinking. The [AI Gateway](<https://vercel.com/docs/ai-gateway>) tracks usage and cost for these requests and includes built-in observability and Bring Your Own Key support.
