# Faster domain aliasing for large-scale multi-tenant applications

By Steven Van · 2025-03-14

The speedup applies to all customers, and one app with 13,254 domains went from about 10 minutes of aliasing to 28 seconds.

Multi-tenant apps on [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) that sit behind hundreds or thousands of domains now spend far less time on aliasing, the step that points a domain at a different deployment. Vercel says bulk aliasing is **up to 95%** faster, and the change is [live for all customers](<https://vercel.com/solutions/multi-tenant-saas>).

Aliasing had been slow enough to add significant overhead to deployments. Vercel gave two examples of the new timings:

An app with 13,254 domains went from about 10 minutes to 28 seconds. An app with 23,743 domains went from 8 minutes 37 seconds to 26 seconds.

A multi-tenant application lets a single project serve many customers, usually with a domain for each.
