# Faster CDN proxying to external origins

By Steven Van · 2025-05-23

Optimized connection reuse and TLS resumption cut response times by up to 60% in some regions, live on all deployments at no extra cost.

Vercel has tuned connection pooling in its CDN to cut latency when proxying requests to external origins. Improved connection reuse and TLS session resumption reduce response times by up to 60% in some regions, with a 15-30% average improvement, and 97% connection reuse means fewer new TLS handshakes and less load on origin servers. The change is live across all [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) deployments at no additional cost.
