# External API caching insights now in Observability

By Steven Van · 2025-05-22

Vercel's Observability dashboard now shows cache-versus-origin hit rates for external API calls, with per-path detail on Observability Plus.

The [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) Observability dashboard now shows caching behavior for external API calls made through Vercel Data Cache. On the External APIs page, a new column breaks down how many requests were served from the cache versus the origin. That breakdown is available per hostname on all plans, and per path for **Observability Plus** subscribers. Full details are in the [changelog entry](<https://vercel.com/changelog/external-api-caching-insights-now-in-observability>).
