# Extend eve agents with installable extensions By Steven Van · 2026-07-22 Extension packages bundle tools, connections, skills and hooks that install, version and upgrade like any other npm dependency. eve agents can now import installable extensions: packages of tools, connections, skills, instructions and hooks that any agent can mount as a dependency, then install, version and upgrade like any other package. The feature is part of [Vercel]()'s eve agent framework. A single scaffold command creates a new extension package, installs its dependencies and initializes Git, using the same file layout as a regular eve agent. Once built, an extension is imported from a file placed under an agent's extensions folder; the filename sets its namespace, so an extension's search tool runs in the consuming agent as, for example, crm\_\_search. - Extensions can declare a config schema, such as with Zod, so a consumer's settings are validated on import and typed everywhere the extension reads them. - A consumer can require approval before an extension's tool runs, replace it with its own version, or remove it with disableTool(). - Hooks can narrow an extension tool's result type with toolResultFrom.
