# Edge Function metrics now available in Monitoring

By Steven Van · 2025-01-30

The metrics cover Edge Function invocations, CPU time and origin transfer for Observability Plus and Monitoring customers, though Edge Functions are now deprecated.

Monitoring now has three new Edge Function metrics, available to all [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) Observability Plus and Monitoring customers. Monitoring recently became part of Observability Plus. The [announcement](<https://vercel.com/docs/functions>) is historical: Vercel says Edge Functions are deprecated for new projects, and recommends Vercel Functions with the Node.js runtime and Fluid compute. For request-time routing before a response completes, it points to Routing Middleware.

- **Edge Function Invocations:** the total number of times Edge Functions are invoked, counting both successful and errored calls.

- **Edge Function Execution Units:** the CPU time Edge Functions use, calculated in 50ms increments.

- **Fast Origin Transfer (incoming and outgoing):** data transfer rates to and from origin servers.
