# Dynamically extend timeout of an active Sandbox

By Steven Van · 2025-10-21

Vercel Sandbox's new extendTimeout method lets long-running tasks keep going, up to 45 minutes on Hobby or 5 hours on Pro and Enterprise.

Vercel Sandbox now has an extendTimeout method for stretching a running sandbox past its initial timeout, so chained agentic tasks or multi-step code generation that run long don't get cut off.

The timeout can be extended multiple times, up to the maximum runtime for the plan: 45 minutes on **Hobby**, and 5 hours on **Pro** and **Enterprise**.
