# Deployment-level configuration for Fluid compute

By Steven Van · 2025-10-02

Setting "fluid": true in vercel.json now toggles Fluid compute for a single deployment, overriding the project-wide setting.

You can now turn [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>)'s Fluid compute on or off for a single deployment instead of the whole project. Setting "fluid": true in vercel.json activates it for that deployment, overriding the project-level setting either way, so teams can test Fluid on specific environments or individual deployments before adopting it project-wide. Fluid compute has been the default for new projects since April 23, 2025; this adds a way to configure it per deployment. More detail is in the [documentation](<https://vercel.com/docs/fluid-compute>).
