# Deploy Node servers with zero configuration

By Steven Van · 2026-06-23

Vercel now detects a server.ts file and deploys it with no config, joining Express, Koa, and NestJS as zero-config backends.

[Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) now deploys a Node.js server with no configuration. Adding a server.ts file (or server.js, .mjs, .cjs, etc.) at the project root or in src/, and calling server.listen(), is enough for Vercel to detect it and route requests to it as a Vercel Function. This joins existing zero-config backends like Express, Koa, and NestJS.

The Vercel CLI picks up the file automatically for both local development and deployment, with vc dev and vc deploy requiring no extra config files. These backends run on Fluid compute with Active CPU pricing. More detail is in the [Node.js runtime documentation](<https://vercel.com/docs/functions/runtimes/node-js>).
