# Correlate logs and traces with OpenTelemetry in Vercel Log Drains

By Steven Van · 2025-07-04

Log Drains now auto-link logs to OpenTelemetry traces for customers using the Datadog or Dash0 integrations, no setup needed.

Vercel now automatically links logs to distributed traces for applications instrumented with OpenTelemetry. When a request is traced, Vercel enriches the related logs with trace and span identifiers, so a log line can be matched back to the trace or span it came from without any code changes.

The correlation applies to logs generated during traced requests, not build-time logs, and is available to customers using log drains through the [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) [integrations with Datadog and Dash0](<https://vercel.com/docs/drains/using-drains#logs-and-traces-correlation>). No setup is required; correlation happens automatically going forward for customers already using OTel with either integration.
