Anthropic's **Claude Opus 5** is now available on [Vercel]()'s AI Gateway, alongside Anthropic, Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, and Claude Platform on AWS. It improves on Claude Opus 4.8 for long-horizon agentic coding: multi-file features, larger refactors, and end-to-end work, finishing full implementations rather than leaving stubs or placeholders. - Reasoning is on by default, set via a top-level reasoning option from minimal up to xhigh, or off entirely; low and medium effort already produce quality output at lower token and latency cost. - Vision is stronger on charts, documents, diagrams, and UI replication, and the model can use tools to crop and verify visual work. - It coordinates teams of subagents well, suiting multi-agent workflows. - Like Claude Fable 5, it ships with elevated cybersecurity safeguards, so benign security work can occasionally get blocked by a safety classifier; AI Gateway's models fallback array under providerOptions.gateway can list backup models to try when that happens. Pricing is $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens, mirrored from the provider with no markup.
