# Chat SDK brings agents to your users

By Steven Van · 2026-03-19

A single TypeScript codebase now targets Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Discord, Telegram, GitHub and Linear through pluggable adapters.

[Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) has released [Chat SDK](<https://chat-sdk.dev/docs>), a TypeScript library for building chat bots that work across multiple messaging platforms from a single codebase. Instead of writing a separate integration for each platform's API, developers write handlers once and add an adapter for each destination, currently including Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Discord, Telegram, GitHub and Linear.

- Event-driven handlers for mentions, messages, reactions, button clicks, slash commands and modals

- Thread subscriptions for multi-turn conversations

- JSX-based cards, buttons and modals that render natively on each platform

- First-class support for streaming LLM responses

- Serverless-ready, with distributed state and message deduplication handled through Redis

Vercel says Chat SDK abstracts messaging APIs the same way its AI SDK abstracts model providers, so switching or adding a platform becomes a small code change rather than a new integration project. Developers using AI coding agents such as Codex, Claude Code or Cursor can install a skill that documents the SDK's APIs and adapter patterns for their agent.
