# Chat SDK adds message subjects and direct SDK access

By Steven Van · 2026-05-20

A cached message.subject property returns the parent issue or PR on a mention, and adapters now expose their GitHub, Linear, and Slack SDKs directly.

[Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>)'s Chat SDK bots can now see the full parent issue or pull request behind a mention, not just the comment text that triggered it.

- A new [message.subject](<https://chat-sdk.dev/docs/subject>) property resolves to that parent resource when a bot is mentioned in a Linear or GitHub comment, returning its title, status, URL, and full typed payload. It's cached per message, so repeated access only hits the API once, and it resolves to null on Slack and other chat platforms that have no parent resource.

- The GitHub, Linear, and Slack adapters now expose their underlying platform SDKs, letting bots call provider APIs directly, for example adding a GitHub label, creating a Linear issue, or pinning a Slack message. The previous *.client* getter remains as a deprecated alias.
