# Build custom Slack runtimes

By Steven Van · 2026-06-02

Chat SDK's Slack adapter now offers webhook, format, API and Block Kit helpers as separate imports for custom runtimes.

Vercel's [Chat SDK](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) now exposes the Slack adapter's internals as standalone imports, for apps that already handle their own routing, state, or workflow execution rather than using the full Chat runtime.

- Request verification and payload parsing (@chat-adapter/slack/webhook)

- Markdown formatting (@chat-adapter/slack/format)

- Fetch-based Web API calls (@chat-adapter/slack/api)

- Block Kit conversion (@chat-adapter/slack/blocks)

Each subpath skips the full Chat runtime, so imports stay limited to what's used. Details are in the [Slack primitives documentation](<https://chat-sdk.dev/docs/slack-primitives>).
