# Bring your Dockerfile to Vercel Functions

By Steven Van · 2026-06-30

The Beta feature is available on all plans and builds each image to Vercel Container Registry via Fluid compute.

[Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) Functions can now run applications packaged as Docker or OCI-compatible [container images](<https://vercel.com/docs/functions/container-images>), using Fluid compute. The feature is in **Beta** and available on all plans.

To use it, add a *Dockerfile.vercel* or *Containerfile.vercel* file to the root of a project, with the container starting an HTTP server that listens on the *$PORT* environment variable. Vercel builds and pushes the image to Vercel Container Registry on every commit, then deploys it as a Function, keeping the preview deployments, logs, routing and autoscaling that come with Vercel Functions and Fluid compute.

This makes it possible to bring existing applications written in any language onto Vercel, rather than rewriting them for a supported runtime.
