# Automate progressive rollouts with Vercel Flags

By Steven Van · 2026-05-11

Vercel Flags can now shift traffic to a new variant in scheduled stages, rather than holding a fixed split, from the dashboard or the CLI.

[Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) Flags now supports progressive rollouts: rolling out a feature to a growing percentage of users on a schedule, instead of a fixed split.

A weighted split holds a fixed distribution, such as 50/50, for the life of an experiment. A progressive rollout instead follows a predefined schedule of stages, each with its own target percentage and duration, gradually shifting traffic to the new variant. Staging the exposure this way lets a regression turn up on a small slice of users before it reaches everyone.

Progressive rollouts are available now in the dashboard and through the new *vercel flags rollout* CLI command. [Read more](<https://vercel.com/docs/flags>) in the Vercel Flags documentation.
