# AI Gateway is now generally available

By Steven Van · 2025-08-21

Vercel's AI Gateway leaves beta with no token markup, automatic failover, and support for both the AI SDK and an OpenAI-compatible endpoint.

[Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>)'s AI Gateway is now generally available, giving developers one API to reach hundreds of AI models with sub-20ms latency routing across multiple inference providers.

- No markup on token pricing, including for Bring Your Own Keys usage

- Automatic failover for higher availability

- High rate limits

- Detailed cost and usage analytics

The gateway works through the AI SDK, where switching providers is just a model string change, or through an OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Read the [full announcement](<https://vercel.com/changelog/ai-gateway-is-now-generally-available>) for setup details.
