# Ad Analysis: Break Down and Rebuild Competitor Video Ads

By Steven Van · 2026-10-02

Synthesys walks through finding, following and scoring Huel and AG1 video ads in its app, then rebuilding one with the cost shown before rendering.

Synthesys has published a step-by-step walkthrough of competitor video ad analysis in its app, built around a test run on 2 October 2026. The test researched two nutrition brands, Huel and AG1, picked one ad worth learning from, then rebuilt its structure around Fuelbar, a sample snack bar made up for the exercise. [According to the post](<https://synthesys.io/blog/ad-analysis/>), going from search to analysis took about five minutes.

## Finding and following competitor ads

In [Synthesys](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/synthesys>), the research library sits next to the agent under Competitor research. Filtering Discover to Health/Wellness returned 24+ live ads from brands the team hadn't listed. Each card shows variants, platforms and format. Trending was nearly empty until brands were followed, so the post suggests starting with Discover.

After a brand is followed, its new ads land in a Following feed, grouped by brand. Huel appeared as four accounts (one for TikTok) and AG1 as five. Following two accounts per brand took under a minute, and the Following tab filled within seconds with eight new ads per account, each marked Live. Saved holds ads to return to. Meta and TikTok ads for a brand appear side by side in one feed.

## Reading the signals

An ad's file shows variants, platforms, start date, call to action and landing page. The post treats these as signs of how hard a brand is pushing an ad, not proof of profit or sales. The example was AG1's "3 signs you might have a nutritional gap" ad, which had 7 variants across 4 platforms, a Shop Now button and a dedicated landing page, and had started the day before.

Synthesys also offers AI Analysis and a creative breakdown, which the post labels as estimates: a model's read of the creative, not the advertiser's results. A "Recreate in Agent" option turns an ad into your own version, with the cost shown before anything renders.

## Free ad libraries checked

The post also compares five free libraries, checked with Huel and AG1 on 2 October 2026:

- **Meta Ad Library:** start date, platforms, copy, call to action and how many ads share a creative. For ads reaching the UK or EU it adds targeting and who was served the ad. It shows no spend, clicks or sales.

- **TikTok Ad Library:** ads shown in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and Turkey in the past year. Huel had 712 ads shown in the last 30 days, and none were found for AG1.

- **TikTok Top Ads:** high-performing ads by region, industry and objective. Searches for Huel and AG1 returned nothing.

- **Google Ads Transparency Center:** covers YouTube, with verified advertiser details and the last date each ad was shown.

- **LinkedIn Ad Library:** search by company, payer, keyword, country and date. Only recruitment ads turned up for Huel.
