# Stripe to acquire OpenRouter for over $7 billion

The deal, reported by Bloomberg, values the AI model router at roughly 5.4x the $1.3 billion it raised three months ago.

[Stripe](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/stripe>) has agreed to buy OpenRouter, the AI model-routing startup, for more than $7 billion, according to a [Bloomberg report](<https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-08-16/stripe-nears-deal-to-buy-ai-firm-openrouter-for-over-7-billion>). It would be one of Stripe's largest acquisitions and would push the company beyond payments into AI infrastructure. Stripe declined to comment on the report.

OpenRouter routes 200 trillion tokens a month for more than 10 million users across 500+ models and 80+ providers, and already runs its own billing through Stripe. The reported price is roughly **5.4x** the $1.3 billion valuation OpenRouter raised three months earlier.
