# Release: Slack CLI v4.9.0

By Steven Van · 2026-10-02

Developers can opt apps into app-level token rotation, while invalid logins now prompt a fresh login or stop affected commands.

Developers can now opt apps into app-level token rotation through the app manifest in [Slack](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/slack>) CLI v4.9.0. The [release](<https://docs.slack.dev/changelog/2026/10/02/slack-cli>) also fixes two issues with how commands handle invalid login credentials.

## Enable app-level token rotation

The CLI now supports the settings.app\_level\_token\_rotation\_enabled app manifest property, which opts an app into rotating app-level tokens.

## Handle invalid logins

- When a login has expired and its refresh token is invalid, the CLI now asks developers to run slack login again. Previously, it retried token rotation on every command.

- The slack activity --tail and slack run commands now exit with an authentication error when the login token becomes invalid, instead of continuing to request activity logs.
