# The checkout footer now shows one "Terms and policies" link

By Steven Van · 2026-10-26

Merchants need to do nothing, and Shopify Plus stores can hide the default footer and add their own policy links with Checkout UI extensions.

Shopify's checkout footer now shows a single "Terms and policies" link instead of a separate link for each policy. The link opens a modal where customers can select any of the store's policies.

## What stays the same

Policy content does not change, and merchants do not have to do anything. The update applies to the checkout footer that [Shopify](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/shopify>) shows by default, as described in the [changelog entry](<https://changelog.shopify.com/posts/the-checkout-footer-now-shows-one-terms-and-policies-link>).

## Custom footers on Plus

Merchants on the **Shopify Plus** plan can hide the default footer and add their own policy links with Checkout UI extensions.
