# Subscriptions supported in draft orders

By Steven Van · 2026-10-28

Merchants can add subscription app products to draft orders, then send an invoice so customers review and pay at checkout.

Subscription products from subscription apps can now be added to draft orders in [Shopify](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/shopify>), which lets merchants set up recurring purchases on a customer's behalf. The change was listed in the [Shopify changelog](<https://changelog.shopify.com/posts/subscriptions-supported-in-draft-orders>) under Orders.

## How the workflow runs

Once the subscription product is on the draft order, the merchant sends an invoice to collect payment. The customer receives a link to checkout with their order, where they can review it and complete payment.

The announcement points to a help doc for further detail. It does not say which plans or subscription apps are covered.
