# Shopify Flow: Product updated trigger

The trigger can monitor up to 5 product fields, such as tags, metafields and prices, and starts a Flow workflow when any of them changes.

Shopify Flow can now start a workflow when a product or product variant is updated. The new "Product updated" trigger lets a workflow act when something about a product or variant changes.

The [Shopify](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/shopify>) [announcement](<https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-flow/304>) gives one example: automatically setting a metafield value that depends on other fields in the product.

## Choosing which fields to watch

In the trigger, you can select up to 5 fields on the product to monitor. These include tags, metafields, prices, and more. When one of the selected fields changes, the workflow begins running.
