# Faster checkout, carts synced across devices via Shop

Shop users also get one-tap sign-in and a checkout button showing their last-used card, with support across all browsers.

Shop can now recognize shoppers as they browse a [Shopify](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/shopify>) store, before they make a purchase. For Shop users, this brings faster checkout loading, one-tap customer account sign-in and a Buy with Shop Pay button showing their last-used card. The update is supported on all browsers.

## Carts follow shoppers between devices

Cart sync works in both directions between a store and the Shop app, and across devices on the storefront. A shopper can add items on their phone and continue with the same cart on their computer.

Sync is on by default and requires a Shop account, plus one of these conditions:

- The shopper has signed in to the store with Shop.

- The store uses customer accounts, and the shopper signs in with the same email address as their Shop account. This does not work with legacy customer accounts.

- Shop recognizes the shopper across browser sessions after a previous Shop sign-in, even if they have not signed in on that store.

## Existing carts stay in place

Cart sync does not merge carts or replace an existing cart where someone is shopping. Products can only be purchased on channels where they are available, so a Shop-exclusive item can appear in a synced storefront cart without being purchasable there. A cart might also not follow a shopper who changes regions.

## Browsing activity helps shoppers return

Browsing activity syncs to a shopper's Shop account, allowing Shop to resurface viewed items and remind shoppers about abandoned carts. Shopify's [Help Center explains the sync requirements](<https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-sales-channels/shop/customer-experience#shopping-activity-sync-with-shop-accounts>): shopping activity sync is enabled by default for Shop users who are recognized by Shop or signed in on the store, and is unavailable without a Shop account.
