# CapCut's Seedance 2.5 rolls out to the US, completing global launch

By Steven Van · 2026-08-06

The model brings 30-second single-shot generation, 50 multimodal references, and region-level editing to CapCut app, web, and desktop.

CapCut has flipped the switch on Dreamina Seedance 2.5 in the United States, and with that final region live, ByteDance's newest video generation model is now available worldwide inside [CapCut](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/apps/capcut>). This is the full model, not a trimmed preview: 30-second clips from a single generation, support for up to 50 references, and precise edits to any part of a shot, rolling out across the CapCut app, web, and desktop.

## The U.S. was the last stop on a month-long rollout

CapCut first teased that Seedance 2.5 was coming on July 4, promising seamless generation and editing, up to 50 multimodal references, 30-second scenes in one shot, finer creative control, and more reliable results. The staged release follows a now-familiar pattern for the editor: native 4K Seedance 2.0 landed in Europe, Canada, Australia, and other regions on June 23, and Seedance 2.0 Mini reached the U.S. on July 2. Seedance itself is ByteDance's video model family, announced at the Volcano Engine FORCE conference and shipped first through Jimeng in China and Dreamina internationally before making its way into CapCut, where most creators will actually use it.

## 30 seconds in one pass changes how you plan a scene

Most AI video tools still top out around 5 to 12 seconds per generation, which forces creators to stitch short clips together and hope the seams hold. Seedance 2.5 generates a native 30-second single shot in one pass, which means smoother transitions, stronger character consistency, and room for a scene with an actual beginning, middle, and end. CapCut's implementation also supports timestamped prompts, so you can direct specific actions to happen at exact moments within the clip, plus video extension prompts to continue a scene beyond the initial generation. ByteDance has demoed an ultra-long beta that stretches to 180 seconds, though the CapCut release centers on the 30-second standard mode.

## 50 references solve the consistency problem

The bigger workflow shift may be reference capacity. Seedance 2.5 accepts up to 50 multimodal references per generation, spanning images, video, audio, and text. That matters for anyone trying to keep a product, character, or visual style locked across shots: feed it your product photography, a character sheet, or footage from a previous clip, and the model holds the look. New in 2.5, a single voice, music, or sound effect track can drive pacing, beat matching, and lip sync on its own, which is why CapCut is pitching this at marketers producing multi-version ad footage and creators building consistent-character short dramas and manhua clips.

## Edit any part of a shot without regenerating it

The third headline feature is region-level editing. Instead of rerolling an entire generation because one element is off, Seedance 2.5 lets you change part of a frame with natural language and leave the rest untouched. CapCut's tool pages also highlight green screen inputs for controlling motion and backgrounds, and in-place revision so a nearly-right clip can be fixed rather than discarded. For a credit-based tool, fewer full regenerations translate directly into lower cost per usable clip.

## Where to find it on app, web, and desktop

Based on how CapCut has surfaced previous Seedance releases, look for the model in the AI video generation entry points on mobile, such as AI Lab and the AI video generator, in Video Studio on the web, and through AI Video and Edit Pilot on desktop. Generations run on credits, and CapCut leaned into that with a launch promo: users who retweeted and commented on the announcement within four hours were promised an extra 1,000 credits by DM. If you are budgeting credits, shorter test generations before committing to a full 30-second shot remain the sensible workflow.

With Seedance 2.5 now live everywhere CapCut operates, the gap between dedicated AI video platforms and mainstream editors keeps shrinking. Creators no longer need a separate generation tool and an editor: the model that generates the shot and the timeline that finishes it now live in the same place.
