# Runway App Studio adds Character Swap for video

By Steven Van · 2026-10-29

Swap the person or the place in a clip and keep the motion, and optionally move or replace the audio.

On October 29, [Runway](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/runway>) posted Character Swap inside App Studio. You can replace the person or the location in a video and keep the original motion, and you can transfer or swap the audio so it fits the new scene.

Official Runway announcement demo.

App Studio is the no-code host Runway already offers on paid plans. This post does not list a separate price for Character Swap, and it does not say whether the replacement comes from a still, a prompt, or both. Runway's earlier App Studio notes describe building an app from a description. This demo is the public look at character swaps, location swaps, and audio.

The same day, Runway also posted that App Studio can turn a short film into a video game, with no coding. That is a demonstration of App Studio, which already has its own article, not a separate product.
