# Rive lets Actions fire on States and Transitions directly

By Steven Van · 2026-05-15

The Actions can update View Model data, giving runtime code a hook to trigger app logic at specific animation points.

Rive now lets you fire Actions directly on a State or Transition, not just on inputs and events elsewhere in the state machine. Those Actions can update View Model data, which runtime code can then react to, making it easier to trigger app-side logic at specific points in an animation without extra wiring. See the [announcement](<https://x.com/i/status/2055423497967722510>) for details.
