# Chat and asset sharing

By Steven Van · 2026-10-23

Chat sharing is read-only, but shared development URLs open live servers, so Replit advises checking what your server exposes first.

Replit now lets you share a whole chat, or a single asset from one, with selected teammates or with your entire workspace. The change is covered in [Replit's update notes](<https://docs.replit.com/updates#chat-and-asset-sharing>).

## What recipients get

Chat access is read-only. A shared chat includes its assets and its development URLs.

## Development URLs are live

Development URLs open live servers, not isolated read-only previews. Replit advises reviewing what your server exposes before sharing.
