# Updated: Splash Cursor

By Steven Van · 2026-10-13

The React Bits cursor effect gains ink, smoke, lava and silk looks, a soft glow, a light theme and an idle state that rests when the cursor stops.

Splash Cursor, the fluid-simulation cursor effect in [React Bits](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/resources/react-bits>), has been [updated](<https://reactbits.dev/animations/splash-cursor>). Strokes now flow unbroken with smoothly shifting colors, clicks burst into a real splash, and the effect rests when the cursor is idle.

## New looks

The component adds ink, smoke, lava and silk looks, along with a soft glow and a light theme.

## Installing it

The component page offers JavaScript or TypeScript variants, with plain CSS or Tailwind. The TypeScript and Tailwind version installs with npx shadcn@latest add @react-bits/SplashCursor-TS-TW.
