# Updated: Particles

By Steven Van · 2026-10-11

The rebuilt React Bits background handles thousands of particles and adds new shapes, glow, twinkle, bokeh, constellation lines and cursor effects.

The [React Bits](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/resources/react-bits>) Particles background has been rebuilt. It keeps the same floating motion and now stays crisp and runs far faster with thousands of particles, according to the [updated component page](<https://reactbits.dev/backgrounds/particles>).

## New visual options

The update adds new particle shapes, glow, twinkle, bokeh, constellation lines and drifting. Cursor effects are included as well. The page describes the component as a drifting 3D field of particles with glow, twinkle, constellation lines and cursor interaction.

## Installing it

The component can be added in JavaScript or TypeScript, with plain CSS or Tailwind. The TypeScript and Tailwind version installs with npx shadcn@latest add @react-bits/Particles-TS-TW. The component page has an interactive preview, customization controls and source tabs, which need JavaScript enabled.
