By Steven Van · 2026-10-13

The React Bits background gains cursor heating and click flares, new width, haze, rotation and position controls, and drops its dependencies.

Molten Metal, the swirling filament background in [React Bits](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/resources/react-bits>), has been [updated](<https://reactbits.dev/backgrounds/molten-metal>) so that it ignites from its white-hot cores. The cursor now heats the filaments it passes over, and clicks flare them white-hot.

## New controls

- Filament width, haze, rotation and position settings

- More colors

- Crisper fine detail

- A richer light mode

## Install

The component no longer needs any dependencies. It can be added with the shadcn CLI, and comes in JavaScript or TypeScript variants with plain CSS or Tailwind. For the TypeScript and Tailwind version, the command is npx shadcn@latest add @react-bits/MoltenMetal-TS-TW.
