# Updated: Aurora

By Steven Van · 2026-10-11

Aurora, a soft background that drifts toward the cursor, now blends colour more smoothly and can rise from the bottom or stack layers.

The [React Bits](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/resources/react-bits>) Aurora background has been [rebuilt](<https://reactbits.dev/backgrounds/aurora>), with smoother, richer colour blending and a softer edge that never bands.

## What the new version does

- It drifts gently toward the cursor.

- It fades in on load.

- It can rise from the bottom of the page.

- It can stack extra layers.

## Installation

Aurora comes in JavaScript or TypeScript, with plain CSS or Tailwind. The TypeScript and Tailwind version installs with npx shadcn@latest add @react-bits/Aurora-TS-TW. The interactive preview, customisation controls and source tabs on the component page need JavaScript enabled.
