Raycast 2.9 for macOS adds Send to AI Chat for Notes, a Restart Frontmost App command, 50% faster root search and many MCP and extension fixes.

Raycast 2.9 for macOS lets you send a note straight to AI Chat. A new **Send to AI Chat** action in Search Notes and the Notes window attaches the note, and ⌘ + J does the same. The release also adds a command to restart the app you are using, plus search speed gains and a long list of fixes. It is a [Raycast](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/apps/raycast>) [macOS update](<https://raycast.com//changelog/macos/2-9>).

## New

- **AI Commands:** the model picker has a Default option, so commands follow your default AI Command model. They also show the default reasoning effort.

- **Notes:** the Send to AI Chat action described above.

- **Restart Frontmost App:** a new command that quits and reopens the app you are currently using.

## Performance

Root Search and menu searches are 50% faster and carry less memory overhead. Search Screenshots is 3x faster when browsing images and uses 80% less memory. Window Management shows less visible flickering.

## AI Chat and AI

- Wide tables can extend past the usual text width to show more columns, while staying lined up with the text and keeping each column readable.

- Long responses render more smoothly while streaming.

- Mermaid diagrams load better, and an error message with details appears when a diagram can't be rendered.

- Readability and markdown rendering are improved.

- Commands sent to AI Chat, such as Send to AI Chat or Dictation, now respect the Start New Chat setting.

- Newly installed Extension-provided models are searchable in model pickers.

- Screen Awareness moved into a submenu of the AI settings tab.

## Other improvements

- Action Panel search ranking now prioritizes complete word matches.

- Manage MCP Servers shows connection error details.

- The Restart and Shut Down confirmation has a "Reopen windows when logging back in" checkbox that follows your macOS setting.

- Command settings are improved, including descriptions, hotkeys and aliases.

- HUDs and in-window toasts can be dismissed, and HUDs support pending and progress display. A recurring issue of toasts and HUDs reappearing after dismissal is fixed.

## Fixes

- **AI Chat:** deleting the open chat now moves the selection to a nearby chat instead of leaving nothing selected.

- **Extensions:** fixes for tinted images failing to load from some websites, number hotkeys taking priority over command action hotkeys, grid images appearing off-centre or clipped at larger interface sizes, grid item sizes ignored with the legacy sizing option, dropdown items in a search bar ignoring their keywords when filtering, and the blinking text cursor showing up in Window Capture screenshots.

- **MCP:** fixes for Microsoft 365 sign-in failures, sign-in after first connecting to a server without authentication, connections to older servers when discovery timed out, and repeated reconnects during Cloud Sync.

- **Notes:** certain keywords were turning into » and «, which broke snippets using them. This is fixed.

- **Store:** commands of disabled extensions no longer show up and run from the Store.

- **UI:** some toasts no longer remain visibly stale, and picking the Raycast glyph for some custom commands (ai, dictation and others) no longer gives an empty tile icon.
