# Upcoming retirement of older OpenAI models

Seven OpenAI model IDs, including gpt-5 and gpt-5.4, stop working in Perplexity's Agent and Router APIs on 24 October 2026.

Perplexity's [Agent API](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/perplexity>) and Router API will retire seven OpenAI model IDs on October 24, 2026 at 00:00 UTC: **openai/gpt-5.4**, gpt-5.4-mini, gpt-5.4-nano, gpt-5.2, gpt-5.1, gpt-5, and gpt-5-mini.

The models stay available until the cutoff. After that, the retired IDs will no longer be accepted or returned by model-list endpoints, so developers using direct model selections or fallback chains need to update them beforehand. Perplexity's [Agent API Models reference](<https://docs.perplexity.ai/docs/agent-api/models>) lists current OpenAI models for new integrations.
