# New: Decisions API

By Steven Van · 2026-10-01

Any Perplexity API key works, with input priced at $0.04 per million tokens, free output tokens and no per-request fee.

Developers can get probabilities for classifications, routing decisions and rubric scores from [Perplexity](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/perplexity>)'s new Decisions API. It accepts text, JSON or images and returns structured answers that application code can use directly, without parsing generated replies.

## Ask several questions about the same content

Send content as state to POST /v1/decisions, select the model pplx-decider-v1-27b and attach named questions. A request supports up to 128 questions about the same content, with each answer returned under its question's name.

- Yes-or-no questions return the probability of yes, from 0 to 1.

- Choice questions return a probability for every defined option and identify the most likely one.

- Score questions return probabilities for each level on an ordered rubric, plus a probability-weighted score that can fall between levels.

Application code can compare those numbers against thresholds. Choice and score answers also include a separate confidence estimate, which is not the same as the highest option probability.

## Include images alongside text

Images can be sent alone or alongside text as base64 data URLs in PNG, JPEG or WebP format. The API does not fetch image URLs. Each image must fit within 2,048 tiles of 32 × 32 pixels, and image tokens count towards input usage.

## Access and pricing

Any Perplexity API key works. Input costs **$0.04 per million tokens**, with free output tokens and no per-request fee. The [Decisions API quickstart](<https://docs.perplexity.ai/docs/decisions/quickstart>) includes Python, TypeScript and cURL examples.
