# Fast Search

Developers can cut Agent API web\_search costs to $1.00 per 1,000 calls by switching to the new lower-latency "fast" search type.

The [Perplexity](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/perplexity>) Agent API now supports a "fast" search type for the web\_search tool, running each call on a lower-latency search path. Fast calls cost $1.00 per 1,000 invocations instead of $2.50, plus model tokens billed separately. The standard path remains available by setting search\_type to "web", and Perplexity recommends fast for day-to-day agent loops and high-volume tool calls, reserving web for rare, difficult, or ambiguous questions.
