# Obsidian 1.14.3 Desktop (Early access) By Steven Van · 2026-09-29 The early-access desktop build adds a Bases Group menu, macOS Quick Look for Markdown, faster fuzzy search and a Slides plugin security fix. Obsidian 1.14.3 is out for desktop in early access (Catalyst). The largest change is in Bases, where a new Group menu in the toolbar lets you choose the property to group by. It also lets you reorder, hide and add groups by hand in any view type. - macOS gets Quick Look previews for Markdown files, which need the latest installer. macOS and Windows both get document icons for .md, .base and .canvas files. - Bases has a redesigned empty state, with "New base" and "New canvas" options when their plugins are enabled. Dates and times in group headers and in readonly layouts such as Cards and Kanban now render better, and embedded kanban boards no longer have a fixed height. - New "Increase font size" and "Decrease font size" commands, and an update notice in Settings → General when a newer installer is available. - Fuzzy search in the Quick switcher and suggestions now ranks matches where your letters start words higher, and is faster in large vaults. Search in the Bookmarks, Outline, Tags and Sync views keeps everything inside a matching item visible and hides groups with nothing to show. - When an untrusted vault is opened, themes and snippets are temporarily disabled while the "Do you trust the author of this vault" dialog is on screen. - In Source mode, pressing ArrowUp on the first line of a note now moves the cursor to the inline title, as in Live Preview. Fixes include a potential iframe injection in the Slides plugin, and searching headings in all notes (\[\[##) freezing the app in large vaults. Pressing Enter on an invalid title in an embedded note, such as a new note from Bases, now keeps the title focused so the name can be fixed. Other fixes cover tooltips, kanban column counts, long property names in Bases filter rules, and Home and End keys in RTL languages. For theme and plugin developers, new CSS variables cover tooltips, notices, hotkeys and tabs, using the prefixes --tooltip-, --notice-, --hotkey, --tab-inner- and --tab-container-.
