# Notion icon URLs are validated

Notion now rejects broken icon URLs and lets MCP copy built-in page icons between pages via their identifier.

Setting a page icon in [Notion](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/notion>) by URL now gets validated. Pointing at Notion's built-in icon set, such as https://www.notion.so/icons/pizza\_blue.svg, sets a native icon and reads back as type: "icon". A URL that names no real icon or color now returns a validation\_error instead of saving a broken icon, as described in the [changelog entry](<https://developers.notion.com/page/changelog#september-23-2026>).

In Notion MCP, the page icon parameter on notion-create-pages and notion-update-page now accepts the icons/pizza\_blue identifier that notion-fetch returns, so an icon can be copied from one page to another.
